Sony C800 Clone with Luke Audio Capsule Multi-pattern tube mic

Based on reverse engineering done by Brian Fox of Fox Audio Research, this multi-pattern microphone replicates the features that give the Sony C800 its particular character. The LA-6g (K67) capsule with 1micron film from Luke Audio is specially tuned to give the sound of the original Sony capsule. This gives a clean, bright sound without being harsh. The transformer is an american made T13. The original 6AU6 tube had an expected life of about 100 hours.

I used a NOS EF86 pentode from Svetlana of Russia wired as a triode running at higher than normal voltage. It is the same tube used in the Neumann U67 and it should give years of service.

Not included is the Peltier cooling device or tubes in the power supply. These features have no affect on the sound of the mic and reduce its reliability.
